A song for children and adults alike…

We are delighted to announce the production of a new birthday song—one that can be sung to birthday boys or girls at parties, and not only. To be more specific, the song is ready, and during the past couple of months a small community have been busy creating a video clip for the song.

The request came last summer from a band named Kíváncsi Katica és mesezenekara (Curious Katica and her fairytale band). For quite some time, the project was pursued as a much-cherished leisure program; meanwhile, Zoom Studio came to life.

In March, after the completion of the storyboard, we had the opportunity to meet Kati and her band. All members of the band are full time music teachers, so they also consider playing in the storytelling band as a leisure activity. The band traveled to Cluj for the filming of the video clip; the recording took place at the studio of the Sapientia University with the valuable contribution of my students (once again, I would like to thank them and the university staff for their technical support).

The Greenbox recording was a new experience for everybody—not because we had never used the technique before, but because this was the first time when, for the sake of creating the desired atmosphere, we played the role of an enthusiastic audience made up of children. As usual, some unexpected technical glitches required us to use our improvising skills as well.

The images captured this way came to life with graphics designed by Edith Pojum; these graphics were then added to the animation program in 3D. The lion’s share of the work, however, started only after this phase, when we began to mesh the orchestral recordings and the drawings into the clip that we had envisioned. The first version was tested on every generation, from very young children to grandmothers (it was really cute that my little son kept pretending to create a birthday song for days after having watched the clip). The last editing is now underway, and the final version of the clip will be published soon.
